It follows that the interpretation of documentar y words requires consideration of the historical and cultural background of the time as well as the study from the angle of linguistics. A certain language is t he carrier of a certain culture, especially the words are walking fossils of the culture. Since the connotation of a word cannot be separated from its backgroun d, the effect of cultural background on explaining documentary words allows no negl ection at all.
