论《狮吼记》中柳氏的形象及其社会意义

On the Image and Signficance of A Story of A Jeailous Woman

In a story, Mrs. Liu is always regarded as a jealous woman. She stopped her husband from amusing himself by playing with prostitutes and so on so forth. Once the husband went far, he would be punished. The writer discovers that she seemed jealous but in fact she was courageous enough to love and hate. She was a woman who struggled with the unfair man-dominated society. The essence of her jealousy was her love to her husband and to ask for pure love from her husband. In the last part of the story, after Mrs Liu experienced Arby Hell, she got rid of her shrew and jealousy and was converted to Buddhisn. It should not be the result of the boundless power of religion. It disclosed objectively the mutual support of feudalism and Buddhism, so the image of Mrs.Liu is full of deep social significance.
