摘    要:一词多义是人类语言极为普遍的现象,也是认知语言学家较为关注的对象。在对前人研究深入考察的基础上得知,一词多义现象产生有社会和认知两方面原因,产生的机制主要为辐射型、连锁型和综合型三种形式。其中,原型范畴理论能对一词多义现象作出合理解释,并且原型范畴理论对英语词汇教学具有重要指导作用。

Abstract:Polysemy is one of the features in human languages. It attracts much attention from a great number of cognitivelinguists. Based on the extensive study of polysemy, the causes and mechanism of polysemmy are presented in this paper.Besides,itis found that the prototype theory in cognitive linguistics can provide better explanatory power of this languagephenomenon and shed much light on vocabulary teaching.
