The famine began in 1983.As of November 1984,at least 300,000people had died because of drought and famine.Perhaps eight millionmore face starvation—just in Ethiopia alone.People have left theirhomes and villages to look for help.Most Africans live off the land.As their numbers grow,more andmore people have to try to raise food on land that cannot quickly renew
