| Abstract: | Talented scholars in pre-liberation Shanghai were men of letters who engaged in literary and artistic creation and in management of culture business in Shanghai Concession. These scholars belonged to the first generation of professional writers in China. They made tremendous contributions to the development of the literature and art market in contemporary China through their creation and management activities. Meanwhile, they opened up a broad living space for themselves. |
