On the Enlightenment of Constitutional Monarchy System by Early Reformists

As national crisis was getting graver and graver, the early reformists came to question and criticize the westernization drive aiming to make China strong and prosperous. With a deeper understanding of western world, they freed themselves from westernization thought, and put forward the idea of constitutional monarchy system featured by rule-by-the-monarch-and-the-people, which was distinct, realistic and practical. The idea also sheds much light on the socialist political development in modern society.
