A note on spionkopite as a corrosion product on a marine copper find

Abstract

Corrosion products on a copper alloy object from SS Kronan, wrecked in the Baltic Sea in 1676, have been analyzed. The main constituent is the rare copper sulphide spionkopite, CU₃₉S₂₈. X-ray diffraction data are given.
