Wang Shou' s View on Intellectuals

This paper attempts to analyze the profundity and one_sidedness of Wang Shou's view on intellectuals.As is pointed out in the paper,it is commendable for Wang Shou,a self_taught novelist,to discern the strife among intellectuals in ancient times as well as the imperfections of intellectuals reared by professional training in terms of knowledge and moral quality.Nevertheless,it is not tenable for Wang Shou to deliberately or unintentionally absolve the feudal system from its responsibility and shift the mutual conflicts among feudal bureaucrats and feudal sects onto intellectuals even to the effect of ignoring the fact that intellecuals had historically suffered from prosecution.
