当代美籍华人学者叶维廉先生的比较诗学理论,从语言和美学两个向度显示的中西方诗学理论差异是:西方文化以逻辑推理把握世界,东方是通过具体经验体悟世界;西方诗歌主要表现智性认识,而中国古典诗歌重在形象感受;东西方文化存在错位现象,东方诗歌在语法和美学上的优点可以补救西方现代诗歌的不足。

Discussion on Wei-lim yip's Comparative Poetic Theory

Wei-lim yip, the overseas Chinese in the United States, has his theory about the comparative poetics. The research is made on comparative poetic theory produced by him in perspective of language and aesthetics. The difference between Chinese and western poetics lies in the following points: 1) in western culture, the world is understood and mastered by logical reasoning whereas in Chinese culture the world is comprehended by concrete experience; 2) western poetics reflects mental cognition and Chinese poetics shows the image perception. The gaps exist between the western and Chinese cultures. The deficiency in western poetics can be improved by the grammatical and aesthetic advantages of Chinese poetics.
