| Abstract: | In the time of Qianlong, the vegetation in Chengde was extremely good, and pines reached high up to the sky, blotting out the sunlight. The Summer Resort was surrounded with ancient pines. Moreover, the old Chinese scholartrees and willows were rich in poetic flavor at the setting sun. Xiaoxi Gully, Bifeng Gate and the other natural air vents made the city very cool. However, they are no longer existing now. |
