章对中美高等教育的差异进行了阐述。首先对中美社会环境与化传统进行了对比分析，并着重分析了两国间教育体制与毕业生能力方面的差异。章还介绍了中美两国面向21世纪的高教改革，并进行了对比。最后阐述了笔得到的几点启示。

Contrast between American and Chinese higher education and the inspiration

This article illustrates the differences in higher education between China and America. In the first part of the article the contrast and analysis of the social environment and cultural tradition between China and America are presented. In the second part, this article is concerned with the contrast and analysis of the education systems and the differences in the abilities of the graduates of the two countries. In the third part, this article introduces the measures of reforms of higher education taken by the two countries in the 21st century. In the last part, some inspirations of the author are presented.
