| 摘 要： | 托马斯·哈代的名作<德伯家的苔丝>中,女主人公苔丝的姓氏从一个普通的"德北"向贵族姓氏"德伯"的变迁,引起了不同人物对她的矛盾的认识.虽然她的贵族姓氏多次成其命运的转折点,但苔丝对于贵族意义的认识和现实中贵族特权的消亡、苔丝贵族身分的实质不复存在和依然存在的阶级观念,决定了苔丝悲剧结局.

| Abstract: | Tess of the d'Urbervilles is one of the representative works written by Thomas Hardy the famous English writer.By exhibiting different responses towards Tess' noble title,by representing the author's personal background and by exploring the social background of the novel itself,this article would have a try to explain the relationship of the historical and social condition,in which the noble title works with Tess' misery. |
