棒喝:虚火正旺危机四伏的大学英语教育

现今的大学英语教育,虚火正旺隐患多多,对专业学习冲击最大,直接导致本科教育质量的下滑。目标过高,导向偏差是其主要成因。从长计议,必须将英语考级社会化,坚决取消英语考级证书与毕业证、学位证相挂钩;按学校不同情况,分等论级区别对待。确定不同的英语教学目标要求;同时应引导社会舆论,淡化用人单位对英语考证的不适当要求;把英语教育的主要精力投放到外语学院及专门人才培养上,以“少而精”取代“全民性”。

On the Troublesome College English Education

There are many problems in the present college education in that it has attracted too much of the students attention and caused the decline in the quality of the undergraduate education, the main causes for which lie in improper targets and misguidance. In the long run, the English certificate exams should be socialized and should not be the condition for graduation. Moreover, various levels for English education are necessary in different universities or colleges, and various teaching aims should be made even in a university. At the same time, the whole society should adjust its incorrect requirements on some certain English certificates and English education should shift its emphasis onto the English majors rather than onto all college students.
