Yang Xianjiangs Contribution and Enlightenment to the Popularization of Early Marxist Educational Thought XIANG Yong

Yang Xianjiang (1895-1931) , an earl y Marxist educator of the Communist Party of China and founder of proletarian education in China , combined the basic principles of Marxism with the reality of Chinese education so as to promote the popularization of Early Marxist educational thought s. To expand the influence of Marxism, he staged heated debates to argue for the publicity of Marxism; as chief editor of journals like Student Magazine, he constantly enriched and developed Marxist education in theory and practice, calling on the youth s to join the revolution; in his pedagog ical works such as ABC of Pedagogy and New Pedagogy Outline, he actively publicized historical materialism to the youth; as translator of the pedagog ical works of the pre-Soviet Union, he was devoted to introduction of a way for the advanced Chinese to understand Marxist pedagogy. The study of Yang Xianjiang’s popularization of early Marxist educational thought s contributes to the further development of education in the new era.
