Chase was a famous American politician in the 19th century.As Secretary of the Treasury during the Civil War, Chase made a contribution to fiscal balance, reunification of the federation and the abolishment of negro slavery. But his reputation declined because of great political ambition.In 1864, Chase was appointed the sixth Chief Justice of Supreme Court of the United States. |
