Novels produced in Hainan, characterized either by profound implications or by unique motifs or exquisite styles, have granted readers from other regions an insight into the ideological and artistic attainments of Hainan literature as well as an access to the regional cultural appeal of Hainan literature, which also accounts for the uniqueness of Hainan literature. In this sense, it is imperative that more priority should be given to the expression of local cultural flavor in Hainan literature.
