19世纪 6 0、70年代 ,在晚清乡土社会民族自卫斗争的广泛兴起和蔓延中 ,以绅耆士子为代表的乡土社会民间知识精英从各方面向乡土民众的思想和行为取向施加影响 ,从而在晚清乡土社会民族意识的觉醒中 ,发挥了双重作用。其一 ,他们催化和推动了乡土社会广大下层民众民族意识的复苏和觉醒 ;其二 ,他们又将这一走向觉醒的民族意识引导到了盲目排外的歧路上。晚清乡土社会民族自卫斗争因此长期未能步入近代新型民族主义的航道

The Double functions of the Folk Gentry in the Arousal of National Ideology of the Late Qing Dynasty's Country Society

During the 1860's and 1870's, in the course of the National Struggle's unfolding of the Late Qing Dynasty's country society , the folk gentry gave many influences upon the tendency of the country lower common people's spirit and behavior from many respects. Through these influences, they made double functions in awakening the country people's national ideology. The first, they stimulated and promoted the country people's national ideology's awakening; the second, they led the awakening national ideology to blind opposition to everything foreign. So the National struggle for a long time had not walked onto the road leading to the new and modern type of nationalism.
