Pat Barker has been regarded as "one of the most important writers in contemporary British literary history" and one of the most renowned writers who made her name known to the British public in the 1980s.In her Regeneration trilogy,she portrays quite a number of soldiers who have contracted Post-traumatic Stress Disorder due to their traumatic experiences in the First World War and therefore suffered from a series of somatic responses afterwards.She truly exposes the misery and suffering that the war brings to human beings and denounces the cruelty of war.
