Intercultural Dialogue in Education: The Role of Comparative Education

This paper pays tribute to the international community of educators,practitioners and philosophers who share their knowledge,wisdom,and their cultural understanding in the interest of enhancing world peace through intercul tural dialogue.Firstly,it outlines the author's own experiences of intercultural dialogue,and then reflects on the influences of comparative education scholarship on understanding cultural tradition and education in an era of globalization.It points out that educational exchange at one end depends on technology and the market economy;at the other end there are discourses with indigenous comm unities,marginalized cultural groups,and poorer nations who do not have the resources to keep up with globalization.WCCES should play an important role in maintaining cultural integrity and reducing intercultural conflict.
