Abstract:This article presents an analysis of the current situation with regard to the primary curriculum, in particular the latest review documents, and proposes possible forms of integration as a solution to the problems of content overload. It comprises: a critical commentary on the review of the National Curriculum in England; a retrospective consideration of and additional perspectives on curriculum integration; and suggests a process of ‘curriculum mapping’ to examine and analyse what is to be learned in each subject, as a way forward.
