Abstract: | The paper relates to problems concerning reliable transmission of messages on a “diagnostic line” dedicated to system-level fault-tolerance in a distributed system. Message classes are identified, referring to a previously defined system-level diagnostic procedure and to a wide class of architectures. The protocol, allowing both point-to-point and broadcast transmission, is then described. |
