Of wolves and and boys: the scholarly communication crisis

The case for the self‐publishing by academic institutions of scholarly research as a response to the 'serials crisis' is made against the background of the experience of Bepress. It is suggested that such arrangements provide a valuable and cost‐effective answer to the problem.
