Strengthening School Self-evaluation and Enhancing Inspection Effectiveness:Trends of Development of School Inspection and Evaluation in England

In recent years,Ofsted of UK.has strengthened school self-evaluation in order to enhance the effectiveness of school inspection.Schools are required to form effective self-evaluation mechanisms to provide reliable base to external inspection on the one hand,and more importantly to play the role of self improvement and enhancing the ability of self development.Wide-participation,closely related to school development planning,as well as integrated in the school daily management process are the major characteristics of school self-evaluation in the U.K.This article discusses the contents and procedures for self-evaluation put forward by the Ofsted.
