| Abstract: | This paper makes a comparative study of prepositions used during the ancient times in China. On the basis of thorough investigations of eight representative ancient Chinese classics, the paper summarizes the fundamental features of all the prepositions in ancient Chinese from the perspectives of both synchronic and diachronic studies. Moreover, it reveals the clues about how prepositions in ancient Chinese developed into modern Chinese in terms of the two aspects-development phases and practical application. |
