会馆慈善事业述论

会馆是明清及民国时期一个突出的社会现象。它以“答神麻，笃乡谊，萃善举”为旨趣，倡行义学、义诊、恤贫、助丧等慈善活动，这构成了中国传统慈善事业的重要组成部分。善款来源的多种渠道，保障善举义行的正常开展。会馆作为民间社会的乡邦组织，在地方经济的发展和社会秩序的安定等方面都发挥了一定的积极作用。

A Discussion on the Philanthropy of Chamber of Commerce

Chambers of commerce were quite popular in the Ming and Qing Dynasty and the period of the Republic of China.Their aims are to give thanks to gods,to strengthen friendship between people from the same native place and to bring people together to carry out philanthropic projects such as free school,free medical treatment,free burial ground,and poverty relief,which are important parts of traditional philanthropy.The charity funds from various channels ensured these charitable activities.As a nongovernmental organization,chamber of commerce played a positive role in developing local economy and maintaining the stability of social order.
