To Resist Reductionism:Inspiration from the NSSE

The reason for the success of America′s National Survey of Student Engagement(NSSE) lies in its resistance to reductionism based on its spirit of "look within".To "look within" is to recognize that the education is uneven,and that the education should be better and better.To "look within" also means that the weakness must be analyzed,and that the special learning and teaching must be focused.Resistance to reductionism has three aspects of meaning.The first is that the individual should be the goal of higher education.The second is that uniform data should not be used in higher education quality.The last is that university ranking should not be used to judge higher education quality.
