| Abstract: | Progressive aspect indicates temporaries--an action in progress. In addition to process, con tinuation and duration ,there are a number of other concomitant meanings or overtones that go with the progressive aspect.This paper attempts an analysis of the semantic functions of the progressive aspect. Meanwhile the paper explores its pragmatic force that reflects in the linguistic units . |
