大学生英语认知能力培养的实证研究

摘    要:目前大学英语教学仍难以摆脱重知识轻能力的倾向,多数学生的英语应用能力和学习兴趣不尽人意。该研究旨在探索一种由知识传授向兼顾认知能力培养转移的教学模式——认知教学法,从对丰富多样语言现象背后理据的探索和追本溯源中使学生获得从现象到本质认知的跨越,从而提高学习的效果和兴趣。通过对实验班和对照班分别采用为期十周的认知教学法和传统教学法的实验对比,以定量分析的方法,对实验班和对照班的实验前后期末成绩和实验后大学英语四级成绩分别进行了t检验。结果表明,认知教学法在提高学生的学习成绩上确实起到了一定的作用。而且实验后的访谈也表明实验班的学生从中确有收益,学习英语的兴趣和信心都有所提高。认知能力的培养不失为提高学习效果行之有效的途径。

Abstract:College English teaching tends to be language knowledge - oriented, resulting in students's poor compe- tence in communication and slight interest in learning. Therefore, the study tried a different teaching method - method of cognition in which the motivation of the language was presented and analyzed on different levels. The 10 - week experi- ment of the teaching method of cognition was conducted on the non - English majors. T - test was used to analyze the data obtained from the pre - experiment final exam and the post - experiment final exam as well as CET - 4 ( post - experi- ment) of both the experiment and control groups. In the end, it was found that teaching method of cognition was more ef- fective and efficient in English learning. The results of interviews also confirmed that the experiment group benefited a lot from the method, improving their interest and confidence in English learning. It was concluded that developing cognitive competence was a feasible way to promote English proficiency.
