| Abstract: | Shortened forms in contemporary Chinese have obtained unprecedented development and has become a vital composing part in the Chinese vocabulary system. As some grammar teaching materials have not pay enough attention on this phenomena, the paper trims and provides some criteria for the characteristics, forming and usage of shortened forms in Chinese, which will facilitate the systematization and standardization of shortened forms. |
