论唐廷枢买办生涯的两重性

唐廷枢 (1832— 1892 )是中国近代著名买办、实业家 ,又是清末洋务运动的重要官员。 186 3— 1873年是唐廷枢从事买办生涯的十年。在这十年中他扮演了两重性角色 :一方面凭自己的学识和能力为怡和洋行不断开创在中国的业务 ,为英国在华的经济侵略起到了推波助澜的作用 ,明显表现他的买办性 ;但另一方面 ,作为洋行的高级“打工仔” ,不信任和屈辱时时伴随着他 ,特别是在经营洋行的轮船业务中 ,作为中国人的唐廷枢强烈意识着要拥有自己的轮船招商局 ,从而表现出强烈的民族性

On the Duality of Comprador of TANG Ting-shu's Official Life

TANG Ting-shu(1832-1892),modern famous comprador and enterpreur and an important official dealing with Westernization movement.During the period of 1863-1873,TANG was a comprador and acted dual character of his official business.On one hand he tried to do Chinese business in the foreign banks and promoted British economic invasion,thus showed his comprador nature;on the other,however,as a"senior working man"who worked in the foreign banks,the untrusted and insulted cling to him.TANG as a Chinese was aware that Chinese should own its one ship business promotion department in deal business of navigation and thus expressed his strong nationalism.
