解读韦努蒂的归化与异化——论英语成语汉译的翻译策略

美国解构主义思想代表劳伦斯·韦努蒂将翻译研究扩展到社会文化的大框架下,考虑其由价值观驱使的本质,由此提出了推崇顺畅易读的归化翻译策略和尊重异质的异化翻译策略,二者有随情况而定的可变性和交互性。该文对韦努蒂的翻译策略进行了解读,并用其来审视与文化密切相关的成语翻译,提出了成语英译汉的三种方法:成语的归化译法、异化译法和归化异化结合法,将成语翻译置于文化研究的宏观大背景下。

An Anatomy of Venuti's Domestication and Foreignization: Translation of English Idioms into Chinese

Lawrence Venuti proposed the domesticating and foreignizing translation strategies, and the two strategies possess a contingent variability. This paper gives a detailed analysis of Venuti's translation strategies, in light of which the translation of English idioms into Chinese is explored and three translation methods are thus suggested, namely, dometication, foreignization and the integrated approach, in an attempt to study idiom translation within the sociocultural framework.
