Creative Uses of Audio-Visual Equipment
Authors:G B Cowen
Abstract:Mr. Lowndes' topic was the use of aids in so-called ‘liberal’ subjects. Emotional response was the object of such aids and difficulties arose precisely because of the intermediate position they occupied, being neither strictly teaching nor entirely entertainment. Because of the changing nature of concepts in this field many aids were rendered useless, often within a short time, and others might infringe the prerogatives of the teacher. The distinction between an aid and an intrusion was a fine one, for teachers were very jealous of their opinions and would resent a film or strip which clashed too obtrusively with them.
