作为钦努阿.阿契贝《瓦解》的主人公,奥康科历来受研究者重视。与之密切相关的部分家庭成员和几个氏族尊长,他们各有各的优点,有的懂幽默,会思考,善解人意,有的处事平稳,既能够继承传统,又知道因时制宜。以此反观奥康科性格具有强直之短,其悲剧结局不可避免,也预示着他所代表的氏族的瓦解不可避免。

Okonkwo Seen in the Perspective of Other Roles in Things Fall Apart

As the protagonist of Things Fall Apart written by Chinua Achebe,Okonkwo has drawn much critical attention.This article studies the two groups of people that have close relations with him-some of his family members and a couple of elders of his tribe,focusing on their virtues such as humor,thoughtfulness,considerateness and their ability to comply with the changing time while sticking to the tribal traditions.These may throw light on Okonkwo's shortcomings and his tragic ending,and on the inevitable split of his tribe.
