Citizenship and special educational needs: what are you going to do about teaching them to vote?

In the light of current Citizenship initiatives, Barbara Pavey explores post‐16 Citizenship teaching and learning with particular reference to helping young people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities to use their democratic right to vote. She concludes that these potential voters could be effectively disenfranchised by the lack of attention paid to this area.
