Cultural Interpretation of the Gender and Politics of Online Phenomena like Muzimei

In the academic circles, studies on online phenomena like Muzimei mostly focus on its femi- nist standpoint and tend to judge it morally, which is of little benefit to further probes into the complex cul- tural implicatures and the covert discourse and power relationships involved. This paper aims to analyze the ideological effect of ＂ seeing＂ and ＂being seen＂ so as to demonstrate how online writers like Muzimei have fallen into the network pit of truth and falsehood- a mystic relationship between online naked dance and body writing proposed by feminism. Under the impact of commercialism, the failure of sex revolution and the nakedness of the body are closely interlinked. Meanwhile, it is necessary to consider the more complex con- text, however. The energetic posture of online writers like Muzimei and the inclusiveness as well as self-adoration of Chen Ran, Lin Bai, etc. have constituted some sort of bantering deviation and reaction. Moreover, the poetics of midnight revelry has acquired some excessive energy of discourse by way of body sacrifices.
