中国古典诗词中的语篇隐喻及其英译研究

中国古典诗词中的语篇隐喻指那些以某一意象或属于同一语义场的意象群为构筑要件的诗歌,其中的隐喻意义是在整个语篇层面运作的,大致可分为语境独立型和语境依赖型语篇隐喻。中国古典诗词中语篇隐喻的翻译首先要持一种整体观,再现其中的隐喻意象和隐喻话语,保证译文本身是一个生机灌注的整体。针对语境依赖型语篇隐喻的翻译而言,为了弥补原文读者和译文读者的语境视差,还要以作者简介、加注、评论、文内补偿等手段提供必要的语境信息,以有效传达原诗的象征意义或语篇隐喻意义。

On Textual Metaphors in Classical Chinese Poems and Their English Translation

Textual metaphors in classical Chinese poems refer to those which contain a metaphorical imagery that operates on the textual level, or a group of images that belongs to the same semantic field. And they can be roughly classified into context-free and context-dependent textual metaphors. As regarding the translation of those textual metaphors, first of all, an holistic approach should be adopted by reproducing the metaphorical images and expressions in those poems so as to guarantee that the translated texts are full of poetic vigor and flavor all by themselves. As to the translation of those context-dependent textual metaphors, some necessary contextual information beyond the text itself should be provided in the way of introduction to the author, annotation, commentary, integrated compensation and so on in order to bridge the contextual gap between the source-text reader and the target-text reader. Thus the English translation can effectively transmit the symbolic meaning or textual metaphorical meaning of the original poems.
