The Origins of the Sino-Vietnam War in 1979 from the Perspective of the Level of Analysis Approach

The Level of Analysis Approach is one important tool and research paradigm to analyze the roots of the war in international studies.To grasp the origins of the Sino-Vietnam War in 1979, we could use the same framework.Specfically speaking,on the individual level,the decision-makers' personality,experience and style of behavior from the two sides have great impact on outbreak of the war.On the national level,the war has much connection with the rise of nationalism,the intensity of the territory dispute and collision of national strategic target.Moreover,on the system level,the Sino-Vietnamese war also is due to the structure of the US-Soviet cold war and the weakness of the ideology.
