英汉语调对比

广义语调包括停顿、重音和升降三个方面。重音分为词重音和句重音。英汉两种语言均有词重音和句重音。英语句重音除受节奏影响外,还由语法重音和逻辑重音决定。重音在汉语语流中的意义区别作用不如在英语中的相应作用重要。英语中的句调多达七种,而且调值也与汉语的调值不同。以上原因造成中国学生学习英语时在节奏、句重音、语调升降位置和语调调值等几个方面容易出现困难。

Comparison of Intonation Between English and Chinese

In its broad sense, intonation includes stress, pause and pitch change. Stress comprises word stress and sentence stress, both of which exist in Chinese and English. In the English language, sentence stress is influenced by grammatical stress and logical stress as well as rhythm. The distinctive meaning of sentence stress is not as important in Chinese as that in English. As many as seven different intonations have been observed in English. Obviously there are more intonations in English than in Chinese, and the tone pitch is also different in both languages. As a result, Chinese students of English tend to have difficulties in rhythm, sentence stress, rising and falling position in a sentence and tone pitch when they use English. This may cause barriers in communication.
