The First Chinese Periodical Printed in China: Za Wen Bao

According to the archival researches and the comprehensive literature review,this study has discovered that the Za Wen Bao is the first Chinese periodical in Macao and even Chinese press history.It was found in April of 1833 by Robert Morrison,the British Protestant missionary.With this discovery,several major points in the Chinese modern history are therefore modified.These include the earliest Chinese periodical published in China was published in Macao but not in Guangzhou,the first Chinese periodical was published in 1833 but not in 1892.The first Chinese periodical using moveable type of printing press is the Za Wen Bao printed in 1833 but not the Chinese Serial printed 1853.
