The glass flowers of Harvard's Botanical Museum
Authors:Margaret Parke
Abstract:The Botanical Museum of Harvard University houses an extensive collection of entire plants and plant structures modelled in glass with exquisite accuracy. They were made in Germany, over a period of some fifty years commencing 1887, by the Blaschkas, father and son. Although some deterioration is now causing concern, and support is needed for their conservation, they remain a unique example of scientific artistry.
