儒学的现代意义一直是近几年来一个颇有争议的问题,本文从社会主义精神文明建设和社会制度建设两个主要方面阐述了儒学在建设和谐社会中的现代意义,包括儒家伦理规范在形成和谐人际关系和维持正常经济商业活动运行中的借鉴意义,儒学的"为政以德"的治国方针对"以德治国"思想的启示作用,儒学的中庸精神的现代解释在社会安定、统一的政治局面形成过程中的积极作用,儒学的民本主义政治诉求为和谐社会秩序的维持奠定了基础.
