林纾的中学观

作为一位维新派作家,林纾多次提到中学以及奉中学为立国之本的传统中国所存在的种种缺陷,表现出了那个时代先进的中国人可贵的民族自省精神。但是林纾又认为中国儒家文化所揭示的传统伦理道德具有普世价值,因而是不能随意否定的。林纾之所以反复强调这一点,一个非常重要的原因是欧风美雨激荡下出现的某种世风日下现象促使他不能听任中学的沦落。
