This paper is mainly about the comparison between Chinese and English abbreviations in the composition and translation. Through the comparison of the common patterns in the composition of the two kinds of abbreviations, there raises the possibility of mutual translation. In line with the characteristics of abbreviations--brief in form and rich in meaning, the translation should follow the principles of accuracy, conciseness and fluency.
