An analysis of Lawrence's attitude toward industrialism in the light of the theory of contradiction

D. H. Lawrence devotes his whole life to the revealation of the evils of English industrialization in the early twentieth century. According to his opinons, Industrialism should undoubtedly be taken responsible for the incredible ugliness of the landscape, the suppressed personalities of people and their distorted relations with others. Lawrence's criticism of industrialism is of great realistic significance. However, the theory of contradiction states that nothing is exempt from contradiction, when a matter is studied, all aspects of it should be taken into consideration, so as to avoid one-sided conclusions. In the light of this theory, Lawrence's attitude toward industrialism is one-sided. He merely exposes and exaggerates the evils of industrialism but entirely ignores the benefits it brings. To prevent readers from maintaining the same view as Lawrence, This paper, with the help of the theory of contradiction, analyzes Lawrence's one-sided opinion on industrialism.
