陶渊明把“真”作为自己人格的全部追求。他在日常生活、个性展示和感情流露等方面无不体现出“真”。田园景物的淳朴、和谐、宁静、永恒都是他人格的象征和外化。他为人真淳率直 ,毫无士大夫的矫饰和虚伪 ,他的欣喜与苦闷 ,自足与叹穷在诗中表露无遗 ;他行事以任真自得为高 ,从不拘执于一些小的礼节 ;他重感情的自然流露 ,全然超出了儒家中和的原则。虽然他与玄学名士的归宿点并不完全相同 ,但其出发点则都是玄学的自然观

Tao Yuanming's Persuit of Genuine Personality

Genuineness” was all Tao Yuanming was after in personality, which was embodied in his daily life, individuality display and sentimental revelation. He was genuine and frank, free from the feit and hypocrisy of literati and officialdom. His joy and depression , his self-gratification and sighing at poverity were fully expressed in his poems. He acted on self-gratification and was never restricted by trivial formalities. He valued the natural revelation of feelings and went beyond the principle of Confucianism. Although his end-result was not quite similar to that of famous metaphysicians, his starting point agreed with the metaphysic outlook on nature.
