A Study on the Development of South African Library Acts

This paper introduces the profile of the development of South African library acts,which takes the year 1994 as a dividing line and divided the history into two stages. It summarizes the details, characteristics and significance of the current library acts in South Africa. The paper also advances three characteristics on legislative activities of library acts: value the role of council; a certain degree of autonomy to law-men; the result can be reached. The research will bring enlightenment and references to the legislation of Chinese library act.
