Abstract: | In September 2010 MPS Limited undertook a short survey of librarians, addressing their use of usage statistics. Over 300 librarians responded. This article covers the findings. 97% of the librarians surveyed use usage statistics in some way. As would be expected, they find COUNTER‐compliant usage statistics invaluable and place their importance above non‐COUNTER‐compliant usage data. They also rely on this information as a major part of the decision‐making process when it comes to purchase and cancellation decisions. |
