The question about the nature of intelligence has often been debated in the field of Psychology.The article tries to probe the opposition and unity of monism and pluralism on intelligence.Spearman's two factors theory,the typical monism on intelligence,stressed on the function of the general factor(mainly referred to academic intelligence).However Gardner's theory of multiple intelligence,the representative pluralism on intelligence,divided human's intelligence into seven kinds of intelligence and preferred them independent each other.Sternberg wanted to coordinate the contradiction between monism and pluralism with the theory of triple intelligence.These theories of intelligence only offered different visual angles on studying intelligence.We need further research on how to unite monism and pluralism on intelligence.
