| Abstract: | This paper introduces Swain's output hypothesis,mainly focusing on the discussions of the functions of output: noticing,hypothesis- testing,metalinguistic function and developing fluency.The paper also mentions that importance should be attached to the roles of output in teaching activities if learners want to keep far away from"dumb English"and improve their communicative ability. |
