Abstract: | Discussing the world of money and finance with young children reveals some interesting perceptions. Although conversations like that below reveal some unexpected comments, there is a childlike logic in each response. Even very young children have had countless experences with various types of economic transactions. These experiences affect how they learn as well as their ability to be effective problem solvers. As early childhood educators we need to tap that reserve and relate it to school learning.Ruthanne S. Atkinson is a member of the Elementary Education faculty at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. |
